The pre-story of how I can go abroad. So, 4 months ago exactly when it was April 2018, I was in a web programming class with my friends and my lecturer, Mrs. Medha. It was a busiest day of the week because I took so many classes.
When we were paying attention to the lecture she gave, Mrs Medha suddenly said: “Ada yang lancar bahasa Inggris nggak, disini?” which means “is there anyone here who fluent in English?”.
At that time, all of my friends were shouting together: “Bella, bu!” while pointed to me. Mrs Medha said again: “But someone with minimum 3.00 GPA, is there anyone?” and my friends shouted again: “Yes, mam! Her grade is above it!”
Then she said, “Okay Bella, there will be an exchange program. So be ready and I will inform the further information to you.”
And one to two weeks after that, I was selected with my friend, Sasco, Chelsea and Gaga and assigned as the delegations from our university to be the part of SEAMEO SEA-TVET Internship Exchange Program.
Yes, of course I was excited knowing that I will go abroad for the first time. But in the same time, I honestly didn’t know why I chosen for this program because.. really, there are a lot of students who are better than me in both academic and non-academical field. But then I thought, maybe this is my way, this is an opportunity that Allah gives to me because Allah believes me. And because of it, I should have to be ready and do the best.
The phases of SEA-TVET exchange program were going on and on, days change to months, time flows, and those phases make me now finally sitting in front of my laptop, here in Iloilo City, Philippines.
So, welcome. This blog is about my SEA-TVET internship experience and about how study abroad at Philippines has affected me as a person.
